BT110 Setup and Deployment -

Mid-Point Assessment Tests

Alexa built-in

Setting up and Deploying BT110 in a Home or an Office Environment

At this point, you should have completed the setup steps including Prerequisites, and Basic Network Access, Amazon Account linking, and SIP Parameter Setup, and are ready to conduct Mid-Point Alexa Voice Service Tests

Setup Mid-Point Assessment Tests

Before proceeding to the Alexa Voice Service tests, please confirm visually that the Ring LED has stopped rotating green and has turned off. This is an indication that the BuddyTalk device has successfully completed the Amazon AVS authentication and registration from the previous setup process.

If the Ring LED continues to be in the rotating green state, then, please check for the network connection, confirm the AVS Client Authentication, or go back to redo the Basic Setup using the BuddyTalk Setup App

Alexa Voice Service Tests

At this point, the BuddyTalk device has gained access to the network and completed the Alexa Voice Service authentication and registration process, and are able to provide the supported Alexa Voice Service features.

Note that as soon as the device has successfully completed the Alexa Voice Service authorization and registration process, the BT110 device’s Ring LED will stop rotating green and will turn off.

Description User Questions/Commands and Expected Alexa Responses
Basic Question
User: "Alexa, what time is it?"
Alexa: "It is 8:40 am"
Set a Reminder
User: “Alexa, set a reminder.”
Alexa: “What’s the reminder for?”
User: “To go to the airport”
Alexa: “When should I remind you?”
User: “Tomorrow at 10 am.”
Alexa: “OK. I will remind you tomorrow at 10 am.”

You can also test other AVS features as illustrated below:

If there is no special network configuration settings (for example, the system does not require the Dual-Homed network setting, no VPN for network traversal, and no VLAN for enterprise network segregation), and no additional SIP Telephony parameter settings are required, then, you can proceed to the Alexa Communication and BuddyTalk Calling tests below to complete the serup process. Otherwise (e.g., your network environment has voice being separately from data, or if you need additional SIP Telephony settings), proceed to Additional Network Configuration and SIP Account Setup via Web Console.

Conditional Alexa Communication and BuddyTalk Calling Tests

Before proceeding to the Alexa Communication and BuddyTalk Calling tests, please confirm visually that the Phone LED is off. This is an indication that the BuddyTalk device has successfully completed the Amazon Communication authentication/registration and the SIP Telephony registration. If the Phone LED remains to be red, then, please check the following:

  • Network connection is up
  • Communication is enabled in the Alexa App,
  • The SIP Settings have been properly entered for SIP registration.

If the Phone LED continues to stay red, please go back to redo the Basic Setup using the BuddyTalk Setup App or contact your VoIP service provider for SIP parameter/option settings.

The following table provides some basic Alexa Communication and BuddyTalk Calling test cases.

Description User Questions/Commands and Expected Alexa Responses
Basic Call: Digit Dialing
User: "Alexa, dial 1-408-432-5400."
Alexa: "1-408-432-5400" and call completes
Basic Call: Contact Dialing

Congratulations!!  You have successfully completed the setup for the BuddyTalk device to provide Alexa Voice Service, Alexa Communication, and BuddyTalk calling features.

You can proceed to the optional BuddyTalk Tablet Controller and Mobile App setup if you would like to setup a companion BuddyTalk Mobile App and/or if you have a BuddyTalk Tablet Controller. You may also continue to Additional Network Configuration and SIP Account Setup via Web Console if you need to make further networking or SIP Telephony setting adjustments.
